Slin's Island seen from the bridge in Spruce Head Maine. This is a small island we used to row to. Ospreys had a nest for many years high up in a dead tree. The tree finally fell. During the recent rebuilding of the bridge, ospreys repeatedly tried building a nest in one of the tall pieces of equipment used for construction. My brother tells of the osprey's shadow spooking him as it passed over him seeming like a huge monster about to swoop down on him. It was a hurried row home after that.
